Several authors study the history of poverty in Costa Rica seventeenth century to 1950; from their political, economic and sociocultural in the present to the features of social representation structure and consequences. Throughout history, philanthropy, charity, the Church, among others combat poverty, but has not been eradicated and some of its determinants persist.
