This exploratory and hermeneutical study addresses the symbolic, literary, historical, philosophical, mystical and intertextual complexity of the Hispano-Muslim heritage of the 9th-17th centuries, poetized in Once upon a time al-Ándalus (1991), by the Costa Rican Laureano Albán. Both his collection of poems and this study invite the reader to participate in the rescue and (re) appreciation of the Hispanic-Muslim as a cultural legacy of being Hispanic.
