The edition of the Complete Works of Luis Barahona Jiménez constitutes a huge joint effort between the General Studies, the School of History and Editorial of the University of Costa Rica and the family. The purpose of a publication of such importance is to indicate the validity of the thought of the illustrious philosopher and humanist. In this volume, in particular, we discover the fundamental humanist vein in the author, who with the clothes of a historian is in charge of dissecting the first thirty-three years of operation of the University of Costa Rica. The author was fully aware that in its structure and functioning we were facing an increasingly complex entity.
